- 1Do not place the shoes in the dryer. Not all shoes can be put in the dryer, especially not your Plae shoes. Tumble drying shoes may lead them to lose their shape or damage the rubber soles.
- 2Air dry in a shaded area if you are not pressed for time. Air-drying recently-washed shoes outdoors may be a slower process depending on the weather of your area. So, plan the footwear washing on sunny days. Hang out the laces, insole on a clothesline and place the uppers upside down against a wall in a shady patch. Avoid direct sunlight or extremely cold weather as it may damage your shoes.
- 3Stuff the shoes with newspaper and blow-dry for a quicker fix. If air-drying is not a feasible option, you can also dry your shoes indoors quickly. Take out the insoles from the shoes and hang them to dry. Then, place balled up newspapers inside the shoes to absorb the excess water and blow-dry them using a hairdryer on the medium or cool heat setting.
Make sure to keep replacing the newspaper stuffing once it gets damp.
This method is ideal to avoid shrinkage and keeps the shape of your footwear intact.
If you don’t have a hairdryer, place the wet shoes stuffed with newspapers under the fan or at a distance from the heater.
