Troubleshooting Summer Sandals
Why do sandals stink?
When the weather is hot and you've been on your feet all day, your sandals might start to smell a little. Try picking out leather styles, as they tend to handle better in hot conditions, but you can also try cleaning your sandals to help eliminate any odors. Wipe them down with a damp paper towel or antibacterial spray after use, then place them in a cool room to dry. Styles like flip flops can be easily refreshed by popping them in the shower or wiping them down with warm soapy water.
Why do sandals squeak?
We've all been there, and your shoes just keep squeaking as you walk! This can happen when your shoes and feet are dry/wet, or it can be due to friction between the insole and sole.
This is easily remedied, though, by sprinkling talcum powder under the insole in the gap between the insole and sole, or stuffing a folded tissue into it. Another idea to try is to remove the insoles, if they squeak from being wet, removing the insoles if possible and letting them dry in a cool place will help, if the sandals are leather be sure to use leather spray to keep them Be in top condition and stop any noise.
Why do sandals hurt feet?
This question is one of the most popular questions we hear. Your sandals can hurt your feet for a number of different reasons. When choosing summer sandals, it is important to remember that your feet swell from the heat, so your normal shoe size may feel tight and rub against your feet, causing ulcers and blisters, so when choosing summer shoes, be sure Take this into consideration.
Wearing sandals without socks on a long cold winter day, covering your feet can be a systemic shock and it may take a while for your feet to adjust to being no socks. If your feet are struggling and you need a little relief, soothe them in a warm salt water foot bath with a few drops of soothing oil added. If your sandals are plastic and not leather then they won't fit your foot very well so if you can always try leather as they tend to be more malleable it's good for the long run more comfortable for your feet.
Why do sandals cause cracked heels?
Unfortunately, there are some downsides to wearing sandals. Flip-flops in particular can cause heel cracks. The stress of walking in them can harden the skin on your heels and after exposure to fresh air this can cause them to crack which can be very painful so it's important to stay hydrated and use a soft pumice stone to help wipe off dryness in the shower skin. Another good idea is to mix and match the sandals you're wearing to help relieve any pain from your flip-flops.
